I don&#039;t like the &#039;smell&#039; left behind by these, a sort of bleachy smell but it shouldn&#039;t cause any ill effects unless it is putting something else into the air.  It is possible, however, that your body is hyper sensitive and is just letting you know something is different. 

Some cheap products can &#039;gas off&#039; releasing formaldehyde or other offensive chemicals.  This is caused by a chemical reaction as the plastics or other synthetic materials cure or disintegrate.  

If your unit was made in China or some other country with little regulation regarding public health it is possible you&#039;re being poisoned with this chemical release.  As answerer 1 suggested, try going without it and see if you feel normal again.  If so return the thing and complain.</description>
