An Alcoholic Goes to Alcohol Rehabilitation, Receives Alcohol Detoxification and Treatment For His Alcohol Addiction and His Depression, and Begins to Live More Exuberantly

Barry used to talk big to his pals how he could maintain a challenging and fulltime job and get smashed almost every night. Sadly, after engaging in this destructive lifestyle for about five-and-a-half years, he began to have several alcohol related problems.

Barry Begins to Manifest Different Alcohol Related Problems

As an example, he had a real difficult time getting up for work because he felt so little energy when he awoke. Moreover, just about every morning Barry had a severe hangover. Clearly, the mixture of his lack of energy and his hangovers did not make it easy for him to get up and feel motivated to go to work. To add fuel to the fire, he recently received his second drunk driving arrest in the past two years.

To complicate things further, at his job his last two work evaluations were less than acceptable. And finally, his four-year relationship with his girlfriend had worsened due to his angry outbursts, financial difficulties, depression, and his lack of patience.

Though Barry was only twenty-eight years old, he honestly started to look like he was in his mid thirties. Regrettably, this is what hazardous and irresponsible drinking can do to an individual. And in all honesty he knew that he was suffering from the negative effects of alcohol abuse or alcohol dependency and that he was too young to waste his life on careless and irresponsible drinking. So initially he tried to drink in moderation. Unfortunately, he soon realized that he lost all control after drinking his first alcoholic beverage. Stated more precisely, after his first drink he invariably proceeded to get drunk. Due to the fact that this was an event that was repeated every single time he drank, this greatly bothered him. In truth, he began to wonder if he was manifesting some of the signs of alcoholism and alcohol abuse.

Barry Decides Make an Appointment to See His Healthcare Professional

After discussing his excessive alcohol drinking and his unhealthy and irresponsible drinking with his girlfriend, he eventually decided to schedule an appointment to see his physician. When Barry saw his healthcare practitioner, he frankly declared that he has been drinking in a hazardous manner, that he may be manifesting alcoholic signs, and that he wants to quit drinking. He said that drinking responsibly and in moderation doesn’t work well for him and, as a consequence, he wants to learn how he can create an alcohol-free lifestyle.

Barry also told his healthcare professional about his depression and how this mental health issue was negatively affecting his relationship with his lady friend. His healthcare practitioner referred Barry to Doctor Laundry, an alcohol and drug addiction psychologist, who convinced Barry to enter into a drug and alcohol rehab clinic as an in-patient for alcohol detox and alcohol rehab. The good news is that Barry would also be able to get treatment for his depression at this treatment clinic.

Stopping Drinking Was the Best Decision Barry Had Ever Made

After five months of intensive rehab, Barry left the residential rehab facility and continued his recovery via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and via outpatient counseling. Inspired to change his life in a more positive direction, Barry bought some vitamins at a health store and a cookbook. He then joined a fitness center and started working out two or three times per week. Within nine months Barry was a new man. He wasn’t depressed anymore, he was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, he now looked younger than he was, and most significant of all, he remained sober for several months. He also became more patient, he didn’t resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more loving person in his relationship with his lady friend. In short, refraining from drinking was the best decision Barry had ever made.
